The men's ministry at The Word Community Church, started a decade ago with just a small group of men with a deep desire to strengthen their relationship with God. Today, Sons of Thunder has more than a dozen chapters in multiple states. Our small groups provide a place for our members to get to know each other on a personal and spiritual basis. They can learn about God's word and serve the community with their peers.
Young Adults' Ministry
Also known as The Life, this small group is for college and career-aged adults. You'll connect with other adults figuring out how to live a mature Christian life.
Anchor Youth Ministry exists to develop, to grow, to challenge, and to love the students of Northport. We strive to create a safe (physically, emotionally, and spiritually) and exciting environment for your students to learn and grow in their faith. Through engaging programs, challenging yet relatable messages, and building relationships students will learn to anchor their hope and faith in Christ. We believe that children are a "heritage from the Lord" and more than just the church of tomorrow. With The Vine ministry, they're a vital part of today's church. We work hard to engage children in God's word while they're young to help them make important decisions in the future. Children's Ministry is a vital area of ministry at TWCC. The leaders of this ministry believe it is a privilege to teach and mold our future Christian leaders. We believe children can learn and understand the Word of God. Our goal is for them to become servants of God thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:17) Scripture is taught every Sunday and Wednesday. Our kids learn that Scripture is God-breathed and is living and powerful. They are encouraged to memorize Scripture, to read and study the Word of God, to have a daily quiet time, and to pray. They are taught to have a relationship with God and to seek Him for guidance, discernment, and help. For Sunday School and Children's Church curriculum, we use Elements Kids Worship. It is a curriculum designed to help kids learn essential building blocks they need to become spiritual champions for Christ. It is Biblically-based and jam-packed with information relevant to a positive Christian (Biblical) worldview. We use large and small group formats. On Wednesday nights we are currently studying "The Greatest Journey" from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. It is adapted from the curriculum used by Samaritan's Purse through Operation Christmas Child. The purpose is to equip children for the greatest adventure of all- to live boldly as faithful followers of Jesus Christ. At TWCC, our children are involved in missions every fourth Sunday. They are encouraged to serve because we are to esteem others. They participate in packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Our goal this year was 240 boxes. We are sending out more than 300!!!! Also, we had a car wash in the fall to send money for hurricane relief. As part of outreach, we host Vacation Bible School each summer in June. We usually use Lifeway's curriculum. Thrive College & Young Adult Ministry
What is Thrive? Thrive is a college and young adult ministry through The Word Community Church.
What is the Purpose of Thrive? The purpose of Thrive is to create a community made up of college students and young adults where we grow in relationship with one another and deepen our relationship with God. Our hope is that you come and fellowship with us.
Why the name Thrive and the reasoning behind it? The name of Thrive is to illustrate that in life we are called to do more than just survive and get by. Jesus came so that we may have life and have it abundantly. Our passion and desire through the ministry of Thrive is to create an atmosphere that equips college students and young adults with tools and resources that help them best live this kind of life out. “I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.” John 10:10 MSG
When and where will Thrive occur? Thrive will take place every Tuesday night at 8pm at The Word Community Church. The address is: 9310 Hwy 69 N, Northport, AL 35473
What will a service look like? Pre-service: We hope that you arrive early to hangout and fellowship. During the Service: We will dive into a time of worship where we hope you encounter the amazing love of Jesus. Followed by a time of listening to a relevant message spoken through the word of God. Post-service: We will have a time of fun, games, fellowship and we desire for you to build relationships. Our belief is that the reason relationships matter is because people matter. Our main goal with Thrive? Our desire is that you grow in your walk with God and be a part of a community that helps you not only just survive but Thrive. Our hope is that you come and join us and build relationships that will forever impact your life and deepen your faith.
